Contests & Markets (and opportunities to earn money) April – June 2019

Short on money? Short on new places to submit? Here are places interested in your work. I don’t think we’ve ever posted these sites here.

Trish Hopkinson—A Selfish Poet

https://trishhopkinson.com

Far from being selfish, she’s quite generous, sharing information about small publications and interviews with their editors. Many of the places she lists pay the people they publish.

Creative Revolt

https://www.creativerevolt.com

I have not taken the free course, but this site has a lot of promises and she advertises her services with confidence and conviction. Great for wannabe freelancers who don’t know where to start.

Freelancer FAQs

https://www.freelancerfaqs.com

This is a Q & A where you can find answers to your questions if you need to make some money quickly and your skill is writing for others.

Writers Helping Writers

https://writershelpingwriters.net

The site taps into your creative side and offers lots of resources—from classes to coaches as well as free downloads.

Live Write Thrive

https://www.livewritethrive.com

Although I’ve missed every presentation C.S. Lakin has made for the California Writers Club, I’ve heard great reports. She sounds knowledgeable and accepts guest posts.

There are lots more resources available. These are five that looked good to me, but you can find them all at https://thewritelife.com/100-best-websites-for-writers-2019/. See what’s a fit for you. When you query, feel free to say you learned about them in an article posted on Writer Advice, www.writeradvice.com.

And one more:

Flash Fiction Magazine, www.flashfictionmagazine, champions original, creative, and engaging works of fiction with a word-count of 300-1000 words. Submissions are open all year around.

They publish all genres, but they seek complete stories with conflict/resolution and character development.

FFM cannot offer payment for stories published on the website but they pay $40 if your story is selected for publication in their anthologies.

About Us

Writer Advice, is a resource for writers. Since 1997, it has grown from an e-mailed research newsletter for writers into an e-zine that invites reader participation. Our quality fiction, memoirs, interviews, reviews, and articles reach readers around the globe.

The primary focus has always been author interviews, and editor B. Lynn Goodwin has had the privilege of corresponding with over 100 well-known and debut authors who have shared their experiences, insights, and inspiration with readers.

We also publish the work of contest winners and volunteer reviewers.
Click on Guidelines to learn more about both. Please contact us if you would like to contribute.
